Hello and welcome to my blog Amigurumi barmy. This is where I share all my crafting adventures with the world. 

My name is Liz, I'm a crochet designer and I live in York, England with my two beautiful but crazy bengal cats Cassi and Cal.

 I started my blog in 2011 and after I lost my wonderful partner Andy to his life long battle with kidney problems. He was an amazing man and it is because of his love, confidence and faith in me that I had the courage to change my life. I gave up the 9-5 and became a writer and crochet designer. Its not easy but I get to do what I love everyday and its so worth it.

 I learnt to crochet 7 years ago. I was a big knitter before then and I was convinced I'd never be able to learn to crochet. My college and friend Angela Feather took up the challenge and taught me the basics. 


Then I discovered amigurumi and I was hooked ;)


 Before long I was writing my own amigurumi patterns. 

I wanted my patterns to be cute and quirky, but easy to understand and give great results every time. So using my mathematical geekery I worked out a simple way of forming shapes perfectly without increases and decreases showing.

 My other pet project is my amigurumi art dolls, a race of strange and sleepy aliens called the omnipoms. You can find out more about them here.

  Omnipoms are available from time to time in my etsy shop and as custom orders contact me for details.

    Hi, I just asked if your bunny was the same in the magazine this month, sorry... I didn't read this first. I love it sooooo much, I bought the magazine ONLY for it!!! I don't make other crafts. Wish I had seen your blog before or I would have bought bunny from you. It is adorable.. so well designed. I will Pin it as my favourites. Well done you - bunny love xox (LB)

    Hi Liz - thought I would try this - I missed out on issue 27 of craftseller as I've only just been set the challenge to learn crochet by a friend - just waiting to see what my next challenge is as she is doing this instead of a present so on 31st December, I should have learnt or done something new every month. This I'm keeping though, never been able to knit, but picked up crochet relatively quickly!


    Anyway, geisha girls - they look lovely, is there anywhere other than scouting around for issue 27 that I can buy or download the pattern?

    Sorry for the waffle, already working on the cats from this issue, much to my teen daughter's delight!

      Hi Shona
      The geshia pattern belongs to craftseller magazine at the moment so the only way to get it is to get a back issue of the magazine which you can do via craftsellers website. This link will take you too it http://www.craft-seller.com/issue/september-2013-0
      When they release the pattern back to me it will be in my etsy shop and if you stay tuned to my blog I'll be letting everone know when that is.

    Hi, I've bought the Rudolph pattern. I'm not the best crocheter, but I'm trying to make Rudolph for my grandsons. Could you post some more pictures from different angles especially the back and sides?
