I know a lot of you are enjoying my new range of geeky doll patterns (you can find the full range here) so I decided to share the first of my new set inspired by the wizarding world of harry Potter
A USA abbreviations version will be available when the full set of patterns is released later this year.

The pattern
is worked using the amigurumi method. Work stitches continuously in a spiral
without closing off each round with a slip stitch. It may help to use a stitch
marker in the first stitch of each round, moving it up as you work.

and legs are all made in one piece.

Split to
make the legs.
Put a pin or
stitch marker through the stitch on the last row, that is at the centre front
of your doll.
*The easiest
way to do this is lay your doll on a hard surface facing forward and flatten
slightly. Find the middle of the eyes with your pin and then run it straight
down the body of the doll and attach it to the stitch on the last worked row.
Rnd 33: dc

dc in each st to end. 9 sts *change to light brown yarn after rnd 36
Fasten off.
Leg two
Re-join with
grey yarn to any of the unmarked sts from round 32

dc in each st to end. 9sts *change to grey yarn after rnd 36
Fasten off.
Stuff legs and sew closed hole in base of the legs
Arms
Make two in
starting in cream yarn
Make a magic
ring and work 6dc into the ring. 6sts

Face
decoration
Use pink
embroidery thread to make a small V stitch to form the mouth. Use photo as a
guide for placement.
Working the
hair – Wrap lots of light brown round around the handle of a small crochet hook
or knitting needle tie in place to secure. Wet the yarn and leave to dry. Use
this curly hair around the front of the head when following the instructions
for working the hair below.
The hair is
worked by stitching long embroidery stitches over the head. Starting at the
back of the head, work round the bottom edge of the hair line, working stitches
that are approx 2 cms long over and over to completely hide the head. Start and
finish all lengths of yarn by leaving 3-4cm of yarn at the front of the hair
line. Continue working the stitches in the same way as the back to surround the
face, continue until all the hair area is covered. Try not to keep the stitches
too regimented to give the hair a natural look. Once covered sweep the loose
end back and style.

Make two in teal

Pin the coat together at the neck and side
then sew together to secure in place.
Inner coat.
Make two in
light brown yarn
Ch10
Row 1: dc in
2nd ch from hook, dc in each st to end. 9sts
Fasten off.
Sew onto the
inside front edge of each side of the coat.
Lapels
Make one of
each in mustard yarn
Ch 6
Row 1: htr
in 3rd ch from hook, dc in next st, sl st in next two sts.
Fasten off
Ch 5
Row 1: sl st
in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next st, dc in next st, htr in last st.
Fasten off
Sew to the
top of the shirt, use photo as a guide.
Cut a bowtie
out of blue felt and stick or sew in place.
Scarf
Make one
starting in yellow yarn and changing colour every two rows between grey and
yellow.
Ch 4
Row 1: dc in
2nd ch from hook. dc in each ch st. 3sts
Row 2-22:
ch1, turn, dc in each st to end. 3sts
Fasten off. Place
around the neck of the doll
Wand
Chop a
cocktail stitch down to about 3cm. stick in place on the hand
Briefcase
Front and
back
Make two in
light brown yarn
Ch 11
Row 1: dc in
2nd ch from hook. dc in each ch st. 10sts
Row 2-4:
ch1, turn, dc in each st to end. 10sts
Fasten off
Edge
Make one in
light brown yarn
Ch 4
Row 1: dc in
2nd ch from hook. dc in each ch st. 3sts
Row 2-28:
ch1, turn, dc in each st to end. 3sts
Fasten off.
Sew the edge
all around the front piece of the case. Cut a little rectangle of cardboard to
fit inside and keep the shape. Stuff slightly then sew the back on the same
way.
Handle
Make one in
light brown yarn
Ch6
Fasten off.
Sew in place
on top of the case so that it forms a little arch.
Sew the
briefcase to the hand to finish.
