Advent calender day one

Hello and welcome to the first day of my Christmas countdown free crochet pattern advent calender. Every day at 9am I'll be releasing a brand new pattern designed by me just for you guys.

Right well I don't know about you be food is a big thing for me at Christmas. I love all the traditional foods and its a perfect excuse to get in the kitchen get baking lovely things. 

With that in mind the first pattern is this rather cute little Christmas pudding bauble for your Christmas tree. So even if you don't feel like baking you can adorn your tree with sweet treats.

Pattern is written using UK abbreviations



Advent calendar 1

Christmas pudding by Liz Ward

You will need;
Cotton DK weight yarn in brown and white
3.5mm crochet hook
Red and green felt
Wool needle
Fabric glue

Stitches and Abbreviations
Sl st –slip stitch
dc – double crochet
htr – half treble crochet
tr – treble crochet
dtr – double treble crochet

Pudding
Starting in brown yarn and make a magic ring and work 6dc into the ring. Six sts
Rnd 1: 2dc into each st to the end. 12sts
Rnd 2: (dc in the first st, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 18sts
Rnd 3: (dc in the first two sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 24sts
Rnd 4: (dc in the first three sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 30sts
Rnd 5: (dc in the first nine sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 33sts
Rnd 6: (dc in the first ten sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 36sts
Rnd 7-10: dc in each st to the end. 36sts
Rnd 11: (dc2tog, dc in the next four sts) repeat to end. 30sts
Rnd 12: (dc2tog, dc in the next three sts) repeat to end. 24sts
Rnd 13: (dc2tog, dc in next two sts) repeat to end. 18sts
Rnd 14: (dc2tog, dc in next st) repeat to end.           12sts

Stuff firmly now

Rnd 15: (dc2tog) repeat to end                                    6sts

Fasten off and sew closed the hole at the base of the pudding.

Icing

Starting in white yarn and make a magic ring and work 6dc into the ring. Six sts
Rnd 1: 2dc into each st to the end. 12sts
Rnd 2: (dc in the first st, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 18sts
Rnd 3: (dc in the first two sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 24sts
Rnd 4: (dc in the first three sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 30sts
Rnd 5: (dc in the first nine sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 33sts
Rnd 6: (dc in the first ten sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 36sts
Rnd 7: dc in each st to the end. 36sts
The next round creates the icing dribbled edge.

Rnd 8: dc in the first three sts, (ch3, 3dc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sl st in the next st, dc in the next st, htr in the next st, tr in the next st, htr in the next st, dc in the next st, sl st in the next st, ch5, 3dc in the 2nd ch from hook, sl st in the next three ch sts,, dc in the next two sts) repeat from (-) twice more, htr in the next st, tr in the next st, htr in the next st, dc in the next st, sl st in the next two sts, sl lst to join

Fasten off and sew in place on the pudding.
Weave in and sew off any loose ends.

Cut holly shapes out of green felt and little rounds of red felt and glue in place to decorate.

Add a hanging loop with matching yarn if you want to use as a bauble.
